Try as we might, not worth the fight

No one likes a "green" employee right? Why? Why not? If you aren't green you aren't growing. If your business is not growing you are dying. Why is that? Because if your business is not seeing an increase every year that means the increase is going to your competition. If your dealership was doing $11 million a year pre-covid and now you are excited because you did $13 million during covid you are foolish. You did not even see a 20% increase when retail prices saw a 30% increase. If prices went up 30% and your total dollar volume went up 18%, you saw a decrease in sales, units, foot traffic.
Why are businesses struggling? Why are numbers down? Why is there a massive change of the old guard happening and corporations are "rethinking the way they do business"? Those good ol boys, those old timers, those yes men, those buddies, those friends of the family arent getting the job done. The talent has gone to work for the competition and now your business is struggling and you have no one to blame but yourself. The good news is, there are a few corporations out there buying up all these dealers for pennies on the dollar so you still have hope.
Talent and knowledge are irrelevant. People want the fluffy yes man. The guy that will happily say yes even if it is a terrible idea that loses money. I have seen it time and time again. I can send you to 4 different dealers where it is happening now. You can compare numbers year over year and see the decrease when the "company yes man" stepped in. You have it or you don't. Experience is irrelevant. Performance is irrelevant. Work ethic is irrelevant. You can be lazy, be a screw up, be bad at your job and still get the gig just because someone liked you. Why though? WHy wouldnt owners or people in charge want more, want to make more, want their business to grow? Simple. They are tired. They dont care anymore because they comfortable. They dont need to push anymore. They have done that. They do not want employees who push the business, who are doing new things and keeping the business modern and growing. They want simple, easy, go with the flow people until they coast into retirement. That's why today we have a crazy influx of corporations or groups buying up all these mom and pop businesses. The groups are hungry for more while the families are tired and burnt out. Its time for the owners kids to take over but the owner wont relinquish control but also doesn't want to be involved in the daily operation. This leaves those in power not seeing the trends, not watching the modern turns, and not seeing the new patterns. Those that do see it have no say. This just leads to a downturn in work, productivity, and profit for all. Business goes downhill, no one wants to put in the work to bring it back, so its get sold to an investment group for pennies.....
You can do everything you are supposed to do. Surpass every expectation. Get the degree. Achieve the look. Go above and beyond what's asked of you. None of it matters if you can't get anyone to believe in you. You can believe in yourself all you want but you cannot control the decisions of others. After seeing numerous times that those decisions makers will never believe in you, you have to realize the belief in yourself may be unfounded. If the guys that made it and made it with less refuse to back you, it is time to stop. It's a game you are never going to win. You do not have "it" and there is no way to get "it".
If nothing else maybe someone, in some position of power, will earn to not play with people. It may be small to you but it is everything to us. It is our life, our goal, our dream we have been chasing for decades. We gave our lives for this. Honestly, FUCK YOU for doing it. FUCK YOU for toying with people and FUCK YOU for treating people like they are worthless tools to make your life better. And FUCK YOU for acting like our income isn't just as important to us as yours is to you. Stop dangling a carrot in front of people who care, just to line your pockets and then say things like "its so hard to find employees that care." Good employees quit caring because they crossed paths with someone like you. Someone who took advantage, who made promises based on goals they thought could not be reached. Low and behold those goals were hit and when it was time to pay up, you went silent.
